ON VIEW: Alissa Anderson Campbell is the guest curator of the Laguna Art Museum recent exhibition "Francis DeErdely: Striking Figures." Based on Campbell's primary research and writing, this is the first major retrospective on the modernist California artist. Campbell is the leading expert on DeErdely's art and wrote her M.A. thesis on the art of Francis De Erdely, which is now published as the exhibition catalog for "Striking Figures" at Laguna Art Museum.
One of the most important California modern artists during the mid-century, DeErdely had never had a single biography written about him until point. The book, "Striking Figures: Francis DeErdely" is now available at Laguna Art Museum.
Alissa Anderson Campbell is an independent curator, art historian, and art appraiser. Campbell received her B.A. from the University of California, Santa Barbara and her M.A. in Modern Art, Connoisseurship, and the History of the Art Market from Christie’s Education, New York.
Anderson Campbell authored the book, "Nell Brooker Mayhew: Paintings on Paper" as well as "Women Artists of the Central [California] Coast: 1875-1950." Anderson Campbell has written number of exhibition catalogs, art reviews, and criticism in the field of American art.
Anderson Campbell served as curator of the Wildling Art Museum’s "Milford Zornes: An American Artist" as well the Museum’s exhibition "Members Collect III " which included the work of California artists Millard Sheets, James Swinnerton, Edgar Payne, Fernand Lungren, Channing Peake, amongst others. She also served on the Wildling Art Museum's Collection and Exhibition Committee for 5 years.
For the past 15+ years Alissa Anderson Campbell has built an appraisal firm based in Santa Barbara, CA dedicated to assisting collectors grow and protect their unique fine art collections.
Anderson Campbell has assisted numerous museums and other institutions with appraisals of artworks, including the Santa Barbara Museum of Art, La Purisima California Mission, Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History.
